    The Panzergrenadiere have gone through a period of heavy modernisation over the last ten or so years.


    • Fresh leadership equipment, including comprehensive tracking of friendly forces, recon drones at company level, new command post tech.
    • Fresh modernised small arms and infantry equipment.
    • Last but not least: New IFV Puma, now with all its fancy gadgets (ATGMs, cameras, modular armour package)

    I'd like to stress once again the variety of CUP. Of course we'll have soviet stuff, obviously, provided it does in fact work which isn't all that likely. It's RHS after all.


    What about these though.

    • Non-wreeee M113s
    • Non-wreeee Strykers
    • BTRs not made of paper that will actually work when spawned through script
    • LAVs
    • M60s
    • Land rovers
    • Jackals
    • Boxers
    • Improvised technicals
    • Vodnik 30mm

    To name a few. Don't have time to check the full list now.

    Simply put, variety of available vehicles will take a big hit.


    Not to mention the countless camos these and more vehicles come in, allowing us to apply different variants to different factions.

    Not to mention the utter brokenness of many RHS vehicles.

    Not to mention the turrets and heavy weapons.

    Not to mention the testing effort that will have to go into figuring out damage balance.

    Not to mention that the AI simply does not work with many RHS vehicles (BMP gunners will dismount and engage us with their rifles, for instance).

    We use CUP first and foremost for use with enemy forces. Lower quality of CUP has been proven to be benefitial for performance when used with enemy forces.


    Performance is an important concern for many GOL members who aren't playing on cutting edge systems.


    I'm not confident we can build working, balanced, well performing missions without CUP vehicles.

    GOL mod history in a nutshell:


    Add CUP vehicles.

    Remove CUP vehicles.

    Add CUP vehicles.

    Remove CUP vehicles.

    Add CUP vehicles.

    Now we remove them again.


    No one in their right mind would remove CUP vehicles. It's essential.

    We already know that we can't do without. This endless back and forth speaks for itself.


    Please learn from past mistakes, even though they may not be your own.

    Based on its autism and exploitability.


    Add request: CUP Vehicles

    Based on its irreplacability and variety, particularly regarding use with enemy forces.

    What I was trying to say though in all seriousness is that I haven't seen a mod pack or a DLC yet that didn't have some problematic or low quality content in it that needed working around, research, complementing, avoiding. That's what all of them without exception have in common. So my point is, we must manage our expectations and we must do the work.

    And in one way or another that's also what you're saying, I believe. And I'd agree with that.


    But you're also saying that when one piece of something is bad, thus the whole thing is bad. Unsung has bad airframes, therefor Unsung = trash. Even though the ground gameplay has been very enjoyable.

    Anyway for the sake of argument let's apply that line of reasoning and see what we get.

    • CUP also has rather bad airframes you tell us, therefor I have no doubt that CUP must also = trash, in spite of everything else it brings to the table.
    • RHS has horrible vehicles therefor I should consider RHS = trash.
    • Livonia has bad optimisation therefor Contact = trash.
    • PiP driver periscopes and broken damage handling in CWG so obviously = trash.
    • Metis ATGM does no damage to anything so Tanks DLC = trash.

    All of that stuff needs to go straight in the bin.

    The obvious expectation after all is flawless, pristine, high quality content without exception.


    Are we still talking about the same game?

    It's a comical oversimplification, not a compelling argument.


    The reality of how we use content successfully is very different: it's compromise.


    With that said, let's again apply your line of reasoning in the opposite way. When one piece of something is good, thus the whole thing is good.

    Let's say for the sake of argument, Pairie Fire has good air frames. So Prairie Fire = god tier DLC, and we must have it?

    CWG's Marder SPz is juicy, so I must push for it?

    I pushed for Contact because I liked Livonia and the LDF. That lost us three recruits, and that wasn't even because of quality considerations.


    A lot of bias yet to work through. Compelling arguments (against playing Vietnam using Unsung, for example) yet to be made.
