Time for the usual monthly DCS session again. Friday, 1900 as per old school AAC training.

This time out we will be focusing on the F/A-18 in the air to ground role by trying out one of everything it can fire at stuff on the deck. As always though, everything the Harbingers operates will be available including the F2P Su-25T.

This will also be the last post I make on this forum. There is obviously little to no interest

Loads of fun had by all. If you guys are interested in carrier ops but can't afford a big module remember the community A-4 mod is on par with the FC3 aircraft and is carrier capable. You can also grab the Su-33 in a sale for £5 which lets you use the Admiral Kuznetzov

Hoofed aka "Smokey" in the overhead

    Des custom skin looking good

Dodge flight en-route to the target area

Colt 1 (Des aka Overboard) and Dodge 1 (Jason aka Mother Duck) all parked up after landing

Hoofed getting a little out of formation

    Hoofed touchdown

Colt 1 and Dodge 1 at start up

    Newbie Destarn aka Bilbo landing

    One week to go

Remember the Harbingers have slots for all manner of DCS pilots from complete free to play novice to Hoofed and his collection of pretty much every module.

Jason When you first create the poll you need to click "Publicize participants" when you create the poll.

Also do you prefer the poll to be how it was, where it was small and to the left, or do you like it, kinda like a heading, similar to the old gol site?

    TBH I'm happy either way

falseprophet what aircraft do you own? I'm sure you've mentioned before but it's xmas holidays and I'm not even sure what day it is lol

Seriously I have two no votes now but don't know who they are. I can't make arrangements if I don't know who is coming.

Is there any way to see voter names at all? If not yell out so I know who we are expecting or not

It's that time again, the first Harbingers training session of the year will be held on Friday the 10th of January at 1900.

This will be an FTX type mission which will include live enemy in a mock combat scenario. The AI skill will be toned down to make things easier while we iron out stuff like flight assignments for pilots. As per usual the mission will include the Su-25T and be hosted on the Caucasus map so YOU CAN PARTICIPATE FOR FREE!!

Arrangements will be posted here if needed and in the Harbingers Discord.

I've co-opted the wifes PC as a dedicated server for our DCS squadron. It runs from about 0700 (depending on when I get out of bed :P) until around 2200 (depending on when I pass out).

Feel free to drop in to practice. The mission is designed to allow you to practice whatever you want. Other pilots might also be around so you can get hints, tips or simply team up for some co-op training.

    Server details:

    IP: 92.232.65.81

    Name: Harbingers Dedi

    Password: Dog

SRS is on the same IP.

Gives us a constant running social game to play for those that are interested

That's the last official session for the year over but I am looking into running a dedi on an evening for casual practice if people want to hop on.

Next year starts straight away in January with our first combat op unless there is a massive outcry for more practice.

Final Bump. Social, fun and FREE TO PLAY!!

1900 tonight, SRS and server details will be posted in the dedicated DCS squadron discord:

    https://discord.gg/CDhbgN

Focus is on JTAC interaction ready for combat ops in the new year. Even if you have no experience we will get you flying and getting rounds on target

    Bumpage

This is Friday coming 1900 to around 2000

It ain't long but it's fun and challenging. You also get to experience the wonder that is Des trying to fly fast air!

Yeah HOTAS controllers make the camera go spazzy but mines hooked up to a powered USB so I just turn it off and it works fine

For fans of other BiS games and the whole "survival" game thing like Space Engineers or Minecraft:

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/298610/Ylands/

YLands has left early access and is now in full release.

The game is a truckload of fun so long as you don't take it seriously. I play it with my kids quite a lot at weekends and they love it. As well as the desktop version you can also continue your saved game in most modes on a mobile device.

If you're looking for something to kill some hours then you can do a lot worse than running naked (well in your pants) through a jungle looking for mushrooms while being chased by a jaguar.

Here we go then, DCS getting really real at the CAS game. Remember guys this stuff is open to all so come along, you might even have fun

    9 Liner Format:

Line 1: IP. Not always present depending on the mission. Called N/A if not present.

Line 2: BEARING FROM IP AND ANY OFFSET. Just like a BRAA call albeit for ground targets. Again if no IP is present, this will be N/A

Line 3: RANGE FROM IP. As above but for range, usually in nautical miles.

From the first three lines you can accurately find the target.

Line 4: TGT ELEVATION. Target height above sea level. Used to give accurate CCRP solutions.

Line 5: TARGET TYPE. Description of target type. Tanks, IFVs, APCs, Trucks are all examples of target type.

Line 6: MGRS GRID REF. Grid reference of target on MGRS grid. If no IP is given, this is how you find the target.

Line 7: MARKING. How the target is marked. Smoke in daylight, IR pointer at night or laser. If laser, the laser code is also given.

Line 8: BLUFOR POSITIONS. Locations of nearby friendlies. Don't shoot them.

Line 9: EGRESS ROUTE. The route you will take to leave the AO. If an IP is given you will usually return to the IP.

9 Liner/DCS AI JTAC in action:

For those that are flying FC3 or the Su-25T, CTLD offers an alternative:

Any questions or problems yell out either here, in PM, in Discord (GOL or Harbinger) or on steam. Got 9 days to get your heads around this.

Anyone interested in CA JTAC duties don't worry too much about this but please start to get your heads around at least some of it.

    To clarify JTAC capability:

    DCS AI JTAC Support:

    F-14B

    F/A-18C

    AV-8b

    F-16C

    A-10C

So basically all the full fat fast air

CTLD scripted JTAC is used for everything else

Tutorials to follow as well as a 9 liner breakdown
