Tencent buys majority share of Bohemia Interactive

RIP Bohemia and the Arma series. I hope you like mobile games, lads.
-
I share the pessimism. Probably not a good day for Arma. Probably not a good day for us.
-
Awesome! We may finally be able to play Arma on mobile. Who needs mods when you can get lootboxes? The ugly Bi launcher and steam workshop are also rubbish compared to EPIC Launcher. Finally our private data is furthermore stored safely by chinese government. Maybe if we play good enough, the chinese will spare us after taking over the world.

"It's not true," head of marketing Petr Poláček told Hospodářské Noviny. "Tencent didn't buy us. Bohemia Interactive remains an independent studio. We don't know where this information came from."
-
Pressing X.
-
With someone else owning 80% of your shares you can't reasonably call that "independence".
And this fact is not at all disputed by that marketing guy.

it depends how the share are issued and if each share has equal voting rights. It is possible to limit voting by issueing non voting shares.
-
Probably means they'll start using chinese factions who save the world. China is buying games, probably turn wargames into propaganda machines. I'm lucky I'm almost chinese.

Classic spokeshole damage control. Every statement is riddled with weasel language.
