Subject: Stryker Deployment Drills

Subject Overview:

The Stryker Infantry Combat Vehicle was designed to be highly mobile and air-transportable by C-130.

The basic armor package is capable of withstanding 14.5mm heavy machine gun fire, but with the crew-installable add-on armor kit (which adds significantly to the vehicle’s weight), it is also capable of surviving a hit from an RPG-7 rocket propelled grenade.

The Infantry Combat Vehicle provides transport and fire support for a 9 man squad. There are also Command (CV), Mortar (MCV-B), Anti-Tank (ATGM) and Medical Evacuation (MEV) variants.

Thoughts:

Training started at 7pm as always, we had a nice turn out with Cloud joining us for the first time (welcome). Training consisted of a vehicle walk through allowing each member to take a good look at its crew seating, skin and controls with Cpl Filth (he’s nicer than he sounds) going over its core features and answering any questions. After that onto a practical of some dry runs up to objectives and infantry deployment into an AO, each team swapping each time to give the other a go at gaining some experience.

There are some interesting seats in this thing, with the commander seat and two rear passenger seats being able to turn out and gun giving it some close quarter protection to the rear and sides.

The vehicle itself feels heavy to drive and isn’t great up-hill unless you have momentum but handles well on rough terrain and is smooth for the gunner. The optics and .50 cal is good up to 1500m which makes it more than capable of dealing damage to enemy infantry and light armored vehicles before they’re in effective range. It carries x2 smoke countermeasures which we were all a bit disappointed with due to the 5 seconds they are actually effective once deployed, shame.

A few bugs were experienced like one of the rear seats sometimes forces the player to stand pretty much on the roof a quick turn in/turn out resolved the issue.

Also the whining rear door was not appreciated after a few hours of play, however it is a versatile vehicle with its multiple variants and its medium sized transport capacity it suits our BLUFOR mechanized requirements well.

We highly recommend you try it sometime.
